Guide to Renfrewshire
Located on the south bank of the River Clyde and Southwest of Glasgow. With a total of 18 towns and villages Renfrewshire has plenty to offer for everyone. Renfrewshire has numerous parks and historical places of interests. The area caters for the young and old. There are a wide range of sporting facilities from Golf Clubs, Gyms and Equestrian Centres to so much more. For younger members of the family many of the towns and villages have Scouts and Guides packs, Boys and Girls Brigade and sports clubs from Football teams to Judo and Karate clubs.
The towns and villages are all served by numerous local shops. Larger supermarkets can be found in all the major towns. Paisley provides numerous high street shops. Intu Braehead, located in Renfrew, offers more than just shopping with over 30 restaurants and entertainment for all the family this also includes the UK’s largest indoor real snow slope.
Transport
Renfrewshire is excellent for commuters with the M8 Network running through the centre of the district this provides access to Glasgow and beyond. Glasgow International Airport is on the doorstep. Many of the towns and villages have a mainline train station that links Renfrewshire to Glasgow, Inverclyde and Ayrshire. Renfrewshire also has excellent bus routes.
Education
The area is served by 11 secondary schools, 51 primary schools and 3 schools for children with additional support needs. Further education is provided by Paisley Campus of West College Scotland.
